ALEXANDRU PATRICHI
Born and raised in a small mountain town in Transylvania, Alexandru developed an early interest in making and building. From constructing models and treehouses to working hands-on with materials, these formative experiences shaped his sensitivity to construction, craftsmanship, and the physical act of building.
He pursued his architectural studies at UAUIM Bucharest, where his curiosity for design and construction led him to establish a small-scale model workshop, fostering close collaborations with several architects and deepening his interest in the design process as an act of exploration and problem-solving.
Alexandru is currently based in Brussels, contributing to design competitions and the development of projects across different typologies. While his experience spans a wide range of building types, his practice today focuses primarily on residential architecture, a field he considers both the most intimate and the most rewarding.
In July 2014, he participated in the Glenn Murcutt International Architecture Master Class in Sydney, Australia. The philosophy of “touching the earth lightly” and the emphasis on climate, context, and restraint continue to inform his work.
Alexandru’s architectural approach is rooted in coherence, attention to detail, and sensitivity to how people experience space. He believes architecture should respond precisely to its context and brief, favoring special clarity, abundant natural light, and honest, natural materials. Rather than pursuing a fixed signature, he seeks to create coherent buildings, projects that tell a story about place and people.
