N&P’s RESIDENCE

Construction of a private residence.

Set within a wooded residential landscape outside Brussels, N&P’s Residence is conceived as a calm horizontal composition that follows the natural slope of the site. The house is positioned towards the north-eastern part of the plot, allowing the garden to unfold generously towards the south and west, while preserving a strong relationship with the surrounding vegetation.

The project is organised as a sequence of simple, stepped volumes. The upper level contains the more private rooms, while the ground floor opens towards the garden with the main living spaces, terraces and pool area. Rather than imposing itself on the terrain, the house works with the existing topography: the living terrace, swimming pool and pool house are arranged on successive levels, connected by stairs, planted areas and retaining walls that become part of the landscape.

The architecture is deliberately sober and precise. Long horizontal lines, generous roof overhangs and a restrained material palette reinforce the feeling of calm and continuity. Large glazed openings extend the living spaces towards the garden and frame wide views of the surrounding trees, while the covered terraces create sheltered outdoor rooms for everyday use.

The overhanging roofs also contribute to the environmental strategy of the house, providing passive solar protection during warmer months. Combined with a compact volume, high levels of insulation, good airtightness, solar panels, geothermal heating, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and rainwater reuse, the project seeks to combine spatial quality with long-term energy performance.

NPS Residence is a house in close dialogue with its site: a contemporary family home shaped by light, landscape and the gentle movement of the ground.
